The unholy war: Prescription to madness

Rightfully so, the Bush administration has condemned terrorism and the “Jihad,” the Islamic holy war, but Bush, Cheney and company, along with mind numb cheerleaders have now crossed the line and are leading the charge for an unholy war of their own. They are calling for the United States of America to become an aggressor nation.

The idiotic mantra accompanying the call for war with Iraq is beyond absurdity. The best argument for war is that Iraq is stockpiling weapons of mass destruction. Saddam Hussein is a madman that must be stopped.

The first point that should be mentioned is that when Iraq used weapons of mass destruction in the past, it happened to be when the United States was supporting them in its war with Iran. It should also be noted that Iraq refrained from using chemical weapons when the United States attacked Iraqi troops that were occupying Kuwait because of the threat of nuclear annihilation. If Iraq was unwilling to use chemical weapons on the United States while under attack, why would they do so when not under attack?

This new concept being promulgated by the Bush administration that the United States has a right to use pre-emptive military force is a prescription to madness. A clarification of pre-emptive is needed. Will this pre-emptive foreign policy apply to counter an imminent attack, or, as it appears, will this policy apply toward any nation that may potentially strike the United States? Thank god such policies weren’t used during the Cold War. The sun would truly have been blotted out of the sky.

Should China and Russia fear a pre-emptive strike? India, Pakistan? Israel? These countries all posses nuclear weapons and have exhibited hostility toward the United States in the post World War II era.

If the concern is really that weapons of mass destruction would be unleashed upon the United States then the Bush administration is out of touch with reality. As exhibited on September 11th 2001, the preferred delivery system of weapons of mass destruction, is no longer an ICBM, it is an immigrant.

Keeping that in mind, the question has to be asked; wouldn’t the billions of dollars being poured into a middle-east war as well as the manpower involved, be better spent protecting the borders of the United States? If the concern was truly to protect United States citizens, then instead of the granting millions of dollars to local governments across the country to harass law abiding citizens for not wearing safety belts, the federal government should be granting millions of dollars to local governments to track down the 8-11 million criminal aliens that have invaded our shores.

Less than a month ago along the Mexican border, a federal agent was murdered by illegal aliens breaking into the country. Amazingly the story didn’t make broadcast news. That shouldn’t be shocking when you consider the fact that the Mexican military itself fired on INS agents just last May.

Why should the United States engage in military conflict 6000 miles away, when it still is not protecting citizens at home?

Lets not forget that the United Nations is now claiming authority over the judicial system of the United States with an International Criminal Court. While the president has unsigned the treaty, and the Senate never ratified the treaty, by remaining a member of the United Nations, American soldiers are at great risk. As the United States deteriorates into third world status because of unfettered immigration, and the United Nations grows in power, today’s soldiers will become tomorrow’s criminals in a world court.

It is painfully obvious to anyone with half a brain that national security has nothing to do with attacking Iraq. Such a concept would be easy to believe if the terrorists weren’t allowed to enter our country at will.

As for the talk of a draft, I’m in favor so long as it mandates that the children of congress must be drafted for combat duty before the general public is required to serve.
