If this is the “free world”: It stinks!

After half of a century of engaging in a twilight struggle, the United States and its allies won the cold war. Communist Totalitarianism was defeated. The flame of liberty will continue to light the way for humanity. America will continue to be the land of the free and the home of the brave, well, with the exception of Harvard University.

Apparently someone at the prestigious law school must have misplaced their pocket edition of the Constitution. Harvard Law School is considering a ban on free speech, so much for open and honest debate. But then again, what do you expect from the institution that produced Alan Dershowitz, a proponent of torture as a method for interrogating suspected terrorists?

Don’t worry. If you have been recently accepted to Harvard, according to the Washington Post, for your benefit, “the school is also offering first-year students a new course to help them “manage difficult conversations” and learn how to speak with sensitivity on touchy issues such as race and gender.” Guess they wouldn’t want you to say anything nasty now.

Interesting how it is never considered offensive speech when someone advocates violating your constitutional rights.

It is needless to point out the absurdity of a law school that is considering infringing on the right to free speech, which is protected by the first amendment. However, reality shows that Harvard is really behind the curve.

The New York Post reported that police arrested a columnist for Britain’s Daily Telegraph newspaper on suspicion that he stirred up racial hatred during a speech to a pro-fox hunting rally. It seems that Mr. Page had the nerve to suggest, “The rural minority should have the same rights as blacks, Muslims and gays.”

Serves him right. How dare he criticize government policy, especially when dealing with protected classes of people?

Fortunately for Americans that sort of thing will never happen to them. The British of course don’t have the protection of the United States Constitution and the Bill Of Rights. Think again, it seems that in Texas, which by the way has not yet been reclaimed by Mexico, has a city that has made it illegal to carry toy guns in public. UPI reported the Carrollton city council passed, “An amended firearms ordinance unanimously” that would prohibit the possession of the toy guns by minors and make it illegal for anybody to use them in a way that could cause public alarm.”

Well, I guess some folks aren’t satisfied with violating your second amendment rights, so they decided to violate your right to pretend that you have a second amendment.

WorldNetDaily recently reported that a straight A student in North Carolina was suspended for merely having the shell of a bullet in his pocket. The nine year old was attending camouflage day at Fred A. Anderson Elementary School in Bayboro North Carolina. Proudly dressed in his hunting gear he discovered a bullet shell in his pocket. What do you expect the kid to find in his hunting gear?

Maybe the case of Thurston Bell and the National Institute For Taxation Education (NITE) is the kicker. Apparently the IRS is trying to shut down Bell’s web site for what it calls false speech. The irony is that it appears that Bell is just informing people about the IRS codes regarding what is a taxable source of income. Guess the IRS doesn’t like that part of the codebook.

I thought this is what went on in the former Soviet Union or NAZI Germany, or shall I dare say, Iraq. People getting arrested for saying the wrong thing or questioning government policy. How long before questioning immigration policy is considered a hate crime?

Well, since we now live in a police state let me set the record straight so that no Gestapo agent will try to blackmail or intimidate me in the future. Yes, I have said racial slurs before. Yes, I have also criticized government policies. When I was a kid I even brought the whole bullet to school, but I must admit I didn’t have the camouflage gear. Did I play with toy guns? That depends if you count BB guns. More importantly, do I care? No!

After all, I’m only human. Although, I guess I could apply to the Information Awareness Office for a cognitive amplifier so that I will think properly in the future. How much are those Micro Chip implants anyway?

Is this the free world?

If it is, it stinks!
