Katie Couric may be final nail: In CBS evening news’ coffin

“When Katie Couric becomes anchor of the CBS Evening News, she will almost certainly continue the Tiffany Network’s Rather-biased tradition of seeing and describing the world through a single eye – the left eye.”

— Lowell Ponte, Frontpagemag.com, April 5, 2006

With former CBS Evening “News” Correspondent John Roberts now having his Far Left biases fed, burped, clothed and coddled at al-Jazeera’s sister network, CNN, Katie Couric’s decision to move her anti-U.S. views from NBC’s Today Show to the CBS Evening “News” was really no surprise. After all, Couric is nothing more than a female version of Dan Rather, who spewed his own anti-American propaganda long before orchestrating one of the biggest journalistic frauds in U.S. broadcast news history.

While Couric has never purposely tried to lynch a sitting Republican president during a time of war with knowingly fake documents – based strictly on innuendo and hearsay – which likely came from John Kerry’s 2004 campaign operatives, using a Microsoft Word processor, Couric still has done her utmost to tilt the news against the U.S. and every sitting Republican president from the late great Ronald Reagan to President George W. Bush, while providing a virtual sanctuary for Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, as well as anti-U.S. murderous dictators like Fidel Castro, Yasser Arafat and Saddam Hussein.

So all Couric’s really doing is just shifting her anti-U.S. leftist biases from morning to evening – only with fewer viewers and a lot bigger paycheck – and moving CBS even further to the Left in the wake of the criminal and journalistic fraudulence of Dan Rather.

In fact, CBS “News” may have already sealed its own fate without even knowing it by hiring Couric.

If CBS executives expect Couric to change her ideological bent in the hopes of drawing more viewers, they’re in for a big surprise. Unless, of course, they want to repeat the same mistakes they’ve made when they harbored home-grown Communists like Edward R. Murrow, Walter Cronkite and Rather, who all propped up America’s enemies.

Case in point: It was Couric who wondered if Saddam Hussein “hopefully” escaped to Syria when our U.S. military was closing in on the former Butcher of Baghdad in 2003.

It was Couric who, on the Today Show’s Feb. 13, 1992 edition, called Fidel Castro “one of the most charismatic leaders of the 20th Century,” who “traveled the country cultivating his image and his revolution delivered,” and whose “campaigns stamped out illiteracy and even today, Cuba has one of the lowest infant mortality rates in the world.”

“This may be part of her appeal to [CBS mogul Les] Moonves, who in February 2001 traveled to Havana with a handful of fellow Viacom and other media executives for an intimate private party with Cuba’s Marxist dictator Fidel Castro,” wrote Frontpagemag.com’s Lowell Ponte of Couric’s anti-U.S. bias, which Moonves actually may have found attractive about her.

“One of those executives described this tropical prison with 11 million inmate slaves as “the most romantic, soulful and sexy country I’ve ever been to in my life,” Ponte wrote.

Moreover, on Sept. 27, 1999, Couric’s Democrat leanings were further exposed when she proclaimed of Ronald Reagan:

“The Gipper was an airhead! That’s one of the conclusions of a new biography of Ronald Reagan that’s drawing a tremendous amount of interest and fire today…”

On April 3, 1999, during a broadcast on C-SPAN, Couric asked former Texas Democratic Governor Ann Richards, who launched her own Dan Rather-style smear campaign in a vicious attempt to discredit then-Texas Gov. George W. Bush’s impeccable Texas Air National Guard record, which the leftist media never reported:

“Let’s talk a little bit more about the right-wing…a climate that some say has been established by religious zealots or Christian conservatives,” Couric squawked. “I just would like you to reflect on whether you feel people in this country are increasingly intolerant, mean-spirited, etc., and what, if anything, can be done about that….”

On August 14, 2001, Couric again displayed her pro-terrorist leanings and used her show to garner unprecedented sympathy for admitted psychotic child killer Andrea Yates, who mercilessly drowned her five children in her Texas bathtub.

Along with the outspoken, foul-mouthed, anti-Republican, gay/lesbian advocate/washed-up former talk show host Rosie O’Donnell, Couric made a bizarre, on-air plea in support of Yates, where she begged viewers to give donations to Yates’ legal defense fund and flashed a toll-free number on the screen for call-in donations:

“Couric’s on-air advocacy for a confessed child killer is just the latest example of her departure from her job description,” said Media Research Center Director Brent Bozell. “Journalists are supposed to report the news, not their opinions. To paraphrase the great line from the movie Broadcast News, who cares what Katie Couric thinks.”

But, buckling under the pressure from viewers rightfully charging the leftist network with media bias, NBC executives tried to claim neither Couric nor NBC were taking sides in the case, Bozell added, “but subsequent airings of the segment on MSNBC did not include Couric’s advocacy or the address for Yates’ defense fund.”

“NBC’s denial of the obvious is right on par with Bill Clinton claiming he ‘never had sexual relations with that woman,’” Bozell said. “It insults the intelligence of every life form on this planet.”

So, after Dan Rather’s self-proclaimed “fake but accurate” memos debacle, the last thing CBS “News” needs is another Dan Rather pulling them down even further than they already are with more anti-U.S. propaganda. As most of the media bias polls have shown, the blatant anti-U.S. sentiments of CNN, CBS and other media traitors aren’t being tolerated anymore – especially when our brave troops are fighting in the war on terrorism, where they are putting their very lives on the line to protect Couric’s free press “rights” to openly slander them.

If CBS Evening “News” ever hopes to recover from the anti-American leftist bias that has plagued it since the days of Murrow, Cronkite and Rather, who infected the Tiffany Network with their Communist/Marxist views, Moonves would have been making offers to intellectually honest journalists like Bob Costas or John Stossel to help reverse the network’s downward spiral that is guaranteed to happen with Couric.

Based on their new rush to foist Couric on the American psyche, CBS clearly hasn’t learned anything from their near-fatal collision with the arrogant, anti-U.S., Clinton-loving, Bush-hating Dan Rather, who’s still licking his wounds and making $75,000 speeches to try to rehabilitate – in typical Bill Clinton style – his own sullied legacy.

In the end, Couric’s perky personality and slanted reporting won’t work anymore because the American public wants and deserves news reporting that’s not being tilted further to the Left – especially when Couric’s getting an estimated $20 million to slant it that way.

But perhaps this is exactly what CBS needs to finally hasten their much-welcomed departure from the airwaves. When it’s all said and done, Couric may very well be the final nail in CBS Evening “News”’ coffin – particularly when she’ll also lend her anti-U.S. sentiments as a correspondent to the Communist appetites of ‘60 Minutes.’

All that being said, there’s really only one more thing left to say after hearing that the American public will be getting screwed even further as CBS “News” rolls out the red carpet for Couric’s anti-U.S. leftist skews:

Thank you, Lord, for Fox News!
