Across the nation civil rights supporters turned out to counter the anti-civil rights group calling themselves the Million Mom March. The rallies, sponsored by the Second Amendment Sisters, a grassroots civil rights group, out drew the MMM in most cities across the nation.

In Austin, Texas the SAS Armed Informed Mothers’ Rally was a great success. The Texas Department of Public Safety officer, who was in charge of keeping both groups safe, estimated that the SAS attracted “almost double” the crowd the anti-civil rights MMM attracted. He estimated the MMM drew 150 to 200 people. He estimated the SAS rally attendance was between 350 and 400 people.

The SAS group was joined members of several civil rights groups. NRA members were there in great numbers. Seniors United Supporting the Second Amendment members were there, as were Tyranny Response Team members. “Freepers” as the members of the web-based news and discussion forum, FreeRepublic.com call themselves, were everywhere.

Speakers at the SAS rally included Penny Langford, Field Representative for Congressman Ron Paul, and Joyce Smith a lady who runs a ministry to the poor in Houston and staunch supporter of the Bill of Rights. Alice Tripp, a mother whose son was shot by robbers while he was unarmed, also spoke to the assembled civil rights workers.

The last speaker was former Texas State Senator Jerry Paterson, the man who wrote the Texas concealed carry law. Senator Paterson worked tirelessly in the Texas Senate pushing for this very welcome law and received a warm welcome from the crowd. It was an honor to share a stage with these people who are working so hard to protect our rights.

Early reports from around the country are telling much the same story. The pro-civil rights groups either matched the anti-civil rights groups or surpassed them all across the nation.

This was a good day for the nation, and for everyone who values our Bill of Rights. In city after city the common people came out in force, to counter the misinformation the elitist, bigoted, gun grabbers are spreading. The message was clear, “We will not give up our rights. They will have to take them.”

To everyone who gave up their Mothers’ Day holiday to stand up for freedom and the Bill of Rights . . . THANK YOU and GOD BLESS YOU!!! You are helping make this nation a better, safer place for our children and grandchildren.
