TMI Syndrome: Do we just want to walk away?

Once I thought I knew what the conservative American people wanted to read, but now it seems they’ve read too much everywhere, heard too much on radio, they’re suffering from Too Much Information (TMI) syndrome and they want to go to the ball game or drive through the fall foliage and see the changing colors of the leaves on the trees.

As a nation, we’ve been gorged and force-fed on terrorism, national security, inconveniences, the threats of anthrax that seem more like a test run gone awry than a real “terrorist” attack, rumors of smallpox that no one is sure who has weaponized (other than the USA and perhaps Russia), aliens human and extraterrestrial, corruption in high places everywhere and some not so high, snipers killing unsuspecting average citizens, child abductions and murders … on and on and on.

Life in the USA has become some sort of burden that not even the late Alfred Hitchcock, master of horror and suspense movies in the 50’s could have dreamed up.  Orwell saw it coming, he just didn’t know when, and maybe he didn’t realize the extent of the horror, only the extent of government control, newspeak and groupthink.

The ezine writers have difficulty coming up with anything new or interesting, we’ve all heard it over and over, we know what’s wrong, we can’t stop this juggernaut barreling down the freeway of human existence at a maddening pace while madmen and madwomen do ever more egregious acts of barbarism against their fellow humans.  No, not in Zyzxbykistan, not in Dar-es-Salaam or even in the Casablanca that Bogie and Bergman left behind … try San Diego, California or Washington, D.C. and its suburbs.

Just as we’ve sickened out on one horror, a worse one comes along.  We’ve been a people who cherished liberty but when madmen run loose, no one is free.  Fear is bondage and many folks live in that bondage in American cities today. Other than the incredible mass murder of the Twin Towers and Pentagon attacks of 9-11-01, our enemies are mainly our own citizens who have gone berserk.  Most of the really horror movie deeds … Hannibal Lecter stuff … has been the work of Euro-Americans from Jeffrey Dahmer right down the line to this very day.  I have a police and emergency band scanner.   Lots of Hispanics and blacks are identified by not only race and ethnicity but by type of clothing and type of vehicle.  These seem to be the most numerous crimes, but not the most horrifying. These folks seem to do nightly beer runs, convenience store holdups (some of which turn deadly), domestic violence with live-in companions, indecent exposure, drunk driving and narco crimes.  These things that were barely heard of in this country thirty years ago are a nightly occurrence now in cities.    Profiling?  Well if you are going to look for a suspect you need to know something about the person … race, color hair and eyes, height, weight, age, unusual marks and whatever else will help .. including gender, if discernible.

All this government-mandated political correctness has accomplished is to frustrate people to where they not only are getting sick and tired of the governmental agencies that enforce such ridiculous garbage, they’re getting more hatred and less genuine tolerance one for another.  Some folks are just bums, no good wretches no matter what you do for them, and that isn’t new except in carload lots.  I read Les Miserables, and the story of that ungrateful thug, Jean Valjean.

A government can enforce rules but it cannot — yet — enforce correct thinking.   To make thinking politically correct, it takes a federalized education program, which anyone who can read should know that we have and it is working splendidly to turn children against parents, to make snitches of kids, to expel them from school at six for pointing a finger and thumb and saying “bang” during recess, prior to the mandatory sex education programs and indoctrination in homosexuality.

So the readers who used to send me “go girl go” emails now ask “so what can we do about it anyway?” if they write at all.

That tells me that since the terrorist attacks of 9-11 there has been a change in this nation.

We were a people who believed that with a disgrace like Clinton out of the White House and a seemingly inarticulate twit like the “W” of the first eight months in office, we, the people, just might make some headway at taking back our nation and putting it back under the rule of law, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Wrong.

It seems the Constitutution Party closed its doors in Arizona.  The Reform party goes nowhere.  Libertarians are growing, largely with disheartened former Republicans, but they aren’t a major contender … the nation is R or D, two sides of one coin.  People are seeing that the people no longer even have the right to be the people of choice and freedom that the founders intended.

Christians go to church and pray for the Lord Jesus to return.  Others go to the bars and shoot pool with the guys, trying to forget.  Still others take the family on an outing in the great outdoors and hope to instill some real values in the kids while they’re at it.  Some diehards still pay $60 to fund the salaries of millionaire baseball, football and basketball players, tennis greats and golf heroes.  Who cares?

If you still want to read the ezines … let the editors know what you want to hear about.  There’s news and opinion everywhere. Are you just fed up?  Do you care or don’t care what’s on the conservo internet sites?  I’d like to know myself.

Anyone out there?
