In his blockbuster book, “The Death of the West”, Pat Buchanan critically analyzes several key ingredients he envisions as responsible for the decline in the social stability of America as a nation.
Among these ingredients is the dichotomous population structure of the world’s nations; the inverse ratio between the population explosion of Third World countries, and the dwindling populations of modern, highly-developed nations, such as the United States.
Put bluntly, the poor and uneducated people of the mostly stagnant nations are breeding like rabbits, while people in the more modern nations are making families obsolete, marriage non-existent, and even having babies, an endangered activity.
Every poll and study indicates that this is true. But they don’t tell us why it is true. And what dangerous road this is leading us down.
They don’t tell us, for example, how the “benefits” of marital abstinence is making us not only a nation of non-families, but also destroying the natural dynamic of population replacement. Which is gradually, but unrelentingly, sapping our vitality, diluting our values, lowering our living standards, and weakening our position of power in the world.
But Cheryl Wetzstein of the Washington Times seems to know the reason, having gotten the facts about the dilemma from Barbara Whitehead and David Popenoe, who run the National Marriage Project at Rutgers University. The problem, they say, is that in a more “tolerant” society, the social norms, family, religion, and workplace that used to entice men into marriage is no more. So young men tend to lead a more sexually active, single lifestyle for a longer period of time. They relish bachelorhood.
At the same time, women who want to get married often wait too long. and their biological clock runs down. In April, a Times article stressed this very point: women’s fertility declines after age 27, drops drastically by age 35, and if you want children after 40, better think adoption.
This is why we’re seeing more women taking the initiative, pressing the man for marriage, or starting a relationship with a goal of marriage in the near future.
The women are saying, hey, before I get too old to have kids, let’s get married; but the men are saying, who needs marriage, I’m having a ball with no strings attached. Give that up? Are you nuts?
Yes, you are nuts. Because the real danger here isn’t to the men or the women or even to the offspring you may have. It’s to the stability of our country; literally the survival of our nation.
How is this possible? Simple.
With our unwise and unrestrained admission of millions more aliens, both legal and illegal, and a proliferation of babies born to these aliens, and the spread of non-American sub-cultures, and more and more young white males staying single, and growing numbers of white females waiting too long, a population crisis of epic proportions now threatens America.
We must stop this “destruction” of family at all cost.
If we sit back and do nothing until the crisis becomes a disaster our Founders who went through hell to create this nation might just as well have stayed in England.
