Happy (July 4TH) birthday “country”

Recently, on the Sean Hannity radio show, a high school junior phoned in to say that her teacher had informed the students that the class would no longer be called American History – it was now to be called Our Country’s History. Unfortunately, our history books have been rewritten, twisting the truth about our heroic forefathers and in many cases eliminating historical facts and figures all together. Many schools have removed the American flag from class rooms, as well as discontinuing the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance. And now, even the word American is on its way to being off-limits.

Why have we allowed our country to be taken-over? Simply put — many years ago the enemy (Communists) started to infiltrate into the United States with the focused agenda and view that they would be able to take-over America without a shot being fired. While most of us were sleep walking through our comfy lives, they have done just that! They have gained control of the media (news and entertainment) and academia at every level. Today, many college professors openly and proudly announce to their classes that they are communists.

Yet we as a people are doing very little to counteract the anti-American rhetoric and bullying! At one point in time, America shunned anything remotely connected to Communism – now many are embracing it. Obviously, those folks have not learned from history – Communism/Socialism does not work! All it does is enslave its people! The White House and the Congress must approve, because there doesn’t seem to be a single (open) rebuttal.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:

As I was having dinner out on June 18, 2004, soon after receiving the news that Paul Johnson had been beheaded in Riyadh, it hit me that we were nonchalantly filling our bellies without a moments thought concerning what just happened. Becoming unbearably uncomfortable, I could no longer sit at the table. My impulse was to interview someone, anyone, to get an opinion of a question that was pressing my mind. Excusing myself, I found a willing subject by the name of Tom Kiesel (50ish), an accountant in the Palm Springs area. Asking him to think back in his life, I wanted to know if he thought if these beheadings would have happened 20 or 30 years ago would “the people” have been more upset? He thought a minute, and then replied “yes.” He continued, “we as a country used to stick together before there were dissidents, we would have been much angrier.” NACot only would we have been outraged, we would have had an uprising!

IMMIGRATION NOTE:

We are all a product of foreign decent. However, there is a huge difference between the early European immigrants and many of the new-diverse-breed entering our borders. Years ago, those entering this country LEGALLY kissed the ground of the United States of America. They were proud to become citizens and to work and blend into our society. They wanted to be Americans! Today, many coming to this country want to spread their culture here, and eliminate our American traditions by claiming to be offended (A house divided cannot stand). How dare they! How dare our government make laws that command us to be all inclusive — removing our own Constitutional heritage to accommodate people who are most often not even citizens? Are we all insane, or has the fluoride in our water numbed our senses? Americans are called bigots and insensitive when we refuse to go along with their unreasonable demands. However, remember, most of them that sue or complain about our patriotic and religious symbols, have been coached, and even paid to do so. Whose country is this anyhow… just asking?

JULY 4TH:

After 86 drafts, the final version of the Declaration of Independence was officially adopted by the Continental Congress July 4, 1776. Congress established Independence Day as a holiday in 1870 and in 1938 Congress reaffirmed it as a holiday, but with full pay for federal employees.

In June of 1826, Thomas Jefferson sent a letter to Roger C. Weightman concerning the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. It was the last letter that Jefferson, who was gravely ill, ever wrote. In it, Jefferson says of the document:

May it be to the world what I believe it will be…the signal of arousing men to burst the chains… and to assume the blessing and security of self-government. That form, which we have substituted, restores the free right to the unbounded exercise of reason and freedom of opinion. All eyes are open, or opening, to the rights of man. For ourselves, let the annual return of this day forever refresh our recollections of these rights, and an undiminished devotion to them.
