Either Americans change govt or the world will do it for us!

The days of World War II, even Vietnam, seem a bit tame compared to the nearly universal hatred the world feels toward the USA.  Country after country, even those whose roots we share back to colonial days, are letting America know they hate George W. Bush and his cabal of globalist warmongers and elite imperialists.

When Bush II decided to go to war against Iraq at the same time he was “pleading” with the United Nations to help, and they were asking for more time to establish a case against Saddam Hussein, he turned the tide of opinion of an entire planet against the United States.  None of us alive today have ever seen such world-wide hatred of the US.  That’s because none has existed in our short history of two hundred and twenty-some years. The US has been the object of sympathy, sometimes disdain, disagreements, allied efforts against those whom the world agreed were suitable for removal by war.

But Bush’s War, his defiance and arrogance, and that of his staff, have made all Americans the subject of the world’s wrath, ire and disgust.

We have a madman at the helm of state and many of our citizens do not even seem to realize it.  This man makes Lyndon Johnson look somewhat justifiable; Jimmy Carter look intelligent,  Nixon look honest and Clinton appear moralistic!  Standing beside four of the worst presidents this nation has ever had and making them appear “not so bad after all” is quite a feat for a man who has been in the Oval Office a mere three years.

Why Bush II?  Even his father seemed to exercise greater restraint and more cautious roads when dealing with the world.  Yes his domestic policies were on the order of “let them eat cake” and it cost him an election, but compared with his son, Bush II, George the First seems rather mild.  Does he approve of his son’s wars?   I’m not privy to their private conversations, but when it was obvious that America would either have to wait for proof against Saddam or go it alone (which we did and are paying dearly for it) then a prudent man would wait unless he had more than proof-positive.  Bush II said he did and he did not.  He lied.  He lied to his whole nation and to the whole world.  Didn’t he know he would get caught?

Madmen don’t think, they act and react, but they do not think.  Napoleon charged into Russia in winter time, a fool’s errand if ever there was one.  Has Bush II become so obsessed with his “messianic call” that he considers wholesale butchery and the wrath of nations against America his divine task?  For a man whose election is still in question by many, and who, absent the Supreme Court, would be back driving a pickup truck in Texas, he acts like his presidency came with a national mandate and divine blessing.

Nothing could be further from the truth.  Bush II barely made it into the Oval Office and now we know why so many feel he should never have gotten into the office of the president.  Not that Al Gore the Bore would have been any good excuse for a leader, but he might not have gotten the entire planet ready to send for the little gray aliens to carry off one bad excuse for a president (and his staff with him).

What next?  Election 2004 and a cadre of Democratic hopefuls who, all together, don’t quite equal the integer one?  Another egomaniac like Wesley Clark? Or an FDR Democrat like Howard Dean?   Doesn’t anyone want to sit in the middle of the living room floor and scream “give us some leaders!”  So that’s childish.   It’s also a good way to get rid of frustration.  Since Bush, Clark and Kerry are cut from the same egomaniac cloth, I suppose the least aggressive of the lot is Howard Dean, but I don’t know that.  No one knows what a man is until he is in the place where his personality comes through in his actions.

After all, during the Election 2000 debates, Bush II looked like a confused schoolboy who just got caught cheating on his math test.  Make that his English test. Nothing about his demeanor seemed to indicate he was blatantly mad, given to delusions of grandeur and out to conquer the world and subjugate America.

He was all of that. He is worse now with his back in a corner.

No amount of humiliation at the hands of the British will affect him, he’s “called and anointed” in his own mind. Some people cannot be shamed because they are so self-righteous that it’s the rest of the world that has gone crazy.  Oh yes, there are  people like that.  History has a few to name.

Some people are just stubborn.  Others are stubborn beyond all reason and sensibility.  Bush II falls into that category and carries his own horn with him to blow, announcing his glorious arrival wherever he goes.  Call out the army, the police, strip the host nation of all forms of protection and safety but above all else, save Bush II.

And that isn’t a madman?

Hopefully, the world will see individual Americans as deceived nitwits or helpless victims of a vicious leader who deceived, deluded and contrived to get into his present office so he could do precisely what he is doing.  It isn’t likely that it will keep many nations from wanting to blow us off the face of the earth, but we can hope.

In the meantime, we have to continue daily to put up with a self-made wartime president with a tightly closed mind and wide-open national borders.  It must be painful for our military band to play “Hail to The Chief” for a sitcom-level commander in chief whose dog could probably do a better job of running the country.

I wonder how long it will take the world to realize that if we cannot keep our own leaders in check, then they need to come and do it for us.  Pre-emptive war you know — and you know who coined the phrase.  Some things just come back to haunt us all.
