Now, before you seeker-sensitive Christians out there begin gushing, bubbling and hugging each other in ecstasy over the Bush/Putin story about the lost & found cross that headlined the Drudge Report Monday morning, let me remind you that the REAL story of the cross…the gospel of Christ was never mentioned. Let’s not proclaim from the rooftops just yet that REVIVAL HAS BEGUN IN RUSSIA because of Vladimir’s quaint little tale of miraculously recovering a gift given him by his mother. It was a piece of jewelry that was saved…not a soul.
Believe it or not, I really don’t enjoy being the one who always has to throw a wet blanket over feelings festivals like this but someone has to warn God’s gullible that these propaganda pieces are designed to tug at your heartstrings and make you feel good about the enemy so you will trust and befriend him. The long-range goal is to unify conservatives and Christians with hard-line communists for the benefit of New World Order. And the sooner we recognize the religious posturing and window-dressing that’s going on here, the sooner we will understand the truth.
Liberals have already bonded with the world’s socialists over the last half-century leaving only “compassionate conservatives” and compromised Christians left to seduce. That’s why “Brother” Bush is now our president… because the ruling elite knew it would take someone who conservative Christians truly believed was a godly man to get them to follow and accept anything and everything promoted from stem-cell research, to homosexual appointments, to faith-based church/state partnerships, to gestapo-style, anti-privacy search and seizure programs like “Homeland Security” and over time, EVEN global socialism. Furthermore, I have no doubt that the remaining “right-wing” dissenters will eventually be ostracized, demonized, rounded up, incarcerated and in some cases executed for their resistance to globalism as the mainstream continues its perilous journey further and further to the left. It happened in Germany when Hitler came to power and now it’s happening here.

This is the kind of deceptive imagery I referred to in my last installment; entitled “Silent Partners…And Our Lying Eyes”, that lures shallow and superficial Believers away from the Bible and into beguilement. There is no greater weakness in the church today than the new-age idea that we Christians have no enemies. OH, I know that most still accept the fact that Satan is our nemesis, but the socialist-led liberal concept of victimology has all but eliminated the belief among clergy and laymen that anyone is evil. We have been so brainwashed into looking for the good in ourselves as a fraudulent means of measuring our worthiness for eternal life that few pulpits still proclaim what the Bible teaches…that we have a terminal heart condition that only God can heal through repentance and faith in Christ.
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9)
It is our self-centered, sin-driven nature that separates us from God not lost family heirlooms! Like my pastor has so often said, “You can’t know you’re saved until you first know you’re lost.”
All this sentimental talk of missing jewelry, “higher powers”, “character”, “bonding” and world leaders “looking deep into each other’s souls” paints lovely religious pictures for the image-driven “Touched By An Angel” crowd, but it does nothing to address the sin that separates us from God. It’s fine for Putin to hang a cross from his neck if that’s what he chooses to do but I assure you, he’ll never have peace with God and the eternal life He offers until he receives the One who HUNG FROM HIS CROSS for the sins of the world.
“Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? ” (Matthew 16:24-26)
